The Farmhouse Experience
Staying in the historic Snowden Farmhouse at Firefly Hills offers a different kind of getaway. Built in 1924 and thoughtfully renovated, the farmhouse blends the character of its past with comfortable spaces to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the slower pace of life in the Kentucky hills.
The farmhouse features three individually rented guest rooms, each with a king-size bed. It is a wonderful fit for couples, solo travelers, friends traveling together, or family and friends who want to stay near loved ones camping at Firefly Hills.
Guests share the kitchen, dining room, living spaces, bathroom, porches, and outdoor amenities, creating an experience that feels more like staying in a beautiful country home than a traditional hotel.
Start your morning with coffee on the porch, wander through the gardens and trails, visit the animals, or simply settle in with a good book. After a day exploring the Red River Gorge, return to relax in the swim spa, gather around the fire, or enjoy a quiet evening on the property.
The Farmhouse Amenities
Each of our three guest rooms has been thoughtfully furnished with one luxurious king-size bed, quality mattresses and bedding, and the charm and character you would expect from a beautifully restored historic home.
Each room is designed for up to two guests and includes one king-size bed. Cots, rollaway beds, and additional sleeping accommodations are not available.
The farmhouse is especially well suited for couples, solo travelers, friends traveling together, and family or friends joining guests staying in the RV park. Children are welcome, but families traveling with young children should keep in mind that this is a historic home with antique and carefully selected furnishings, shared living spaces, and one shared bathroom. The farmhouse was not designed with young children in mind, so families may want to consider whether it is the best fit for their stay. Families looking for a little more flexibility may prefer The Roost, our on-site fifth wheel RV rental, which includes a separate bunkhouse with three beds and is a great option for families traveling with children.
All three guest rooms share one spacious bathroom on the second floor with a shower, bathtub, two sinks, and toilet.
Downstairs, guests have access to the shared living room, library, fully equipped kitchen, and dining room, which comfortably seats up to six people. Prepare your own meals using the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils provided, and when the garden is producing, you are welcome to pick fresh produce to add to your meal. Farm-fresh eggs are also available for breakfast.
Need to get a little work done while you're here? Several workspaces are available throughout the house, along with a printer, basic supplies, excellent Wi-Fi, and reliable cell service.
Outside, the spacious back deck overlooks the garden and fire pit area, while the gazebo offers another quiet place to relax. Farmhouse guests can also enjoy the swim spa hot tub and Oklahoma Joe BBQ smoker/grill.
