Firefly Hills Volunteer Campers

Hi, we are the Lesmeister family, Troy, Tonja, Neyo and we are full time nomads. Most of our year is spent roaming throughout the U.S. in our 5th wheel. Also, when the opportunity presents itself, we park our rig, and venture to other parts of the world.  We thoroughly enjoy our worldschooling and RV travels.

There are a few things we do miss about our previous sticks and bricks life. Things such as a consistent community of friends for our son and ourselves, being able to grow and raise our own food, and having a place to do repairs or annual maintenance on our vehicles, rig, or even just bikes.  From our years on the road, we have come to realize that we are not alone in this feeling. Many of our traveling friends that we have met, seem to long for the same missing elements.

While attempting to satisfy these needs, we had difficulty locating camping options that offer one or more of these elements. We decided, if people are looking for this and cannot find it, we should build it!  That’s what we are doing, we are building an RV and Glamping Park catered to full-time travelers who are looking for an inclusive and welcoming community, a stocked maintenance shop and homesteading opportunities for the whole family. We want and need the help of our friends to make our dream a reality!

Have you ever had a dream so big that help was needed to realize it?

The Plan

Firefly Hills is a new and growing RV and Glamping Park (30 RV sites, 10 Glamping sites) that is highly automated and inclusive of individuals and families from all backgrounds.  We cater to full time RV families, digital nomads, and traveling professionals. We will offer a homesteading experience of gardening, chicken rearing, and food preservation classes, with an emphasis on building community.

We are an inclusive community for anyone that loves the outdoors. Together, we strive to build an inclusive space where all people feel welcome and safe to enjoy the outdoors regardless of gender identity, age, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, language, or religion. We value the diversity and unique perspectives each of us offers, as it enhances the richness of our world.

The property is located in Eastern Kentucky, near Beattyville, and south of the Red River Gorge.  The Kentucky River wraps around our 38 acre, 100 year old, former tobacco farm. We have two stocked fishing ponds on the property along with woods to explore, a vegetable garden and an orchard.

When you are a work camper at Firefly Hills, you have access to free fast WiFi, laundry, and farm fresh eggs and produce from our garden and orchard.

The local activities include; rock climbing, hiking, offroad ATV adventures, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, zip lining, and farm-to-table restaurants.
